Must have comics...Icon

I was a little late to jump on the band wagon on this one, I will admit. Actually happy to admit I found 100% thought provoking books from Icon which is published by Marvel Comics Worldwide a subsidiary company of the comic giant. By now most people have heard of a little movie from a now classic comic called Kick-Ass, Well that Icon.

Now Kick-Ass 2 is out in stores and it follows in the same tradition as the first one with the same stunning art by John Romita Jr & Tom Palmer and witty story telling my Mike Millar.

Next up is Superior also written by Mark Millar and penciled by Leinil Yu (Uncanny X-Men) which follows a disabled kid with the name of Simon who after seeing the movie Superior goes home wakes up in the middle of the night and is now Superior while talking to a monkey in a astronaut suit...I did say monkey. Can not wait on issue #2.

There's also Nemesis, Yet again written by Mike Millar (His fingers must be bruised from all the typing) and Art by Steve McNiven (Old Man Logan) All I got to say it keeps you cheering for the bad guy to be victorious, just like people who cheered on the Empire in Empire Strikes Back.

Last but not least and not to be passed over is a tale of a girl named Scarlet brought to you in a very victorious effort from Brian Michael Bendis & gut ripping art from Alex Maleev. Murder, Corrupt Cops and a hot vigilante chick all in this gritty tale.

Icon Comics....

My top picks from October 2010

Brightest Day #11 & #12 D.C. Comics $2.99

This is one of my favorite titles to come out this year, I have heard and read mixed reviews on this title but I have to stick with my hunches and give this book the thumbs up. Geoff Johns & Peter j. Tomasi have been writing a solid story and the art team of Ivan Reis , Scott Clark, Patrik Gleason & Joe Prado (with awesome cover's provided by David Finch) serve up some beautiful visuals.

Lex Luthor's Action Comics #894 D.C. Comics $3.99

I have never really considered myself a Superman fan, When I heard Lex Luthor was going to be the star of this title I e-mailed my comicshop to put it on my pull-list. Paul Cornell does a good job on the writing side and Pete Woods art is quite splendid (More cover's provided by the fantastic David Finch). This issue features Death from the classic Sandman comic by the legendary Neil Gaiman, Must have issue.

Green Lantern Corps #53 D.C. Comics $2.99

I pick up all the Green Lantern material, but what sets this apart is Tyler Kirkham has taken over the pencils chores that are wonderful and complimented by Batt's ink's. Tony Bedard raps up this nice package of a book with a good story.
